The Bible talks about the "firmament", a solid shell above our heads where the stars go (Genesis 1:6). God makes rain via "opening windows in the firmament" (Gen 7:11), Snow and hail are stored in celestial warehouses (Job 38:22), the sky is a crystalline material (Job 37:18 and Ez 1:22), the sky is a tent (Is 40:22), stars are SMALL objects attached to the Firmament (which can fall off), (Daniel 8:10, Mat 24, Mark 13, Rev 6:13). Really, stars are "small" ?
And this is just the beginning (I only have 30 characters left).
We can't let Christians have all the fun... The "perfect" Quran says the sun comes to rest in a puddle of murky water (18:86), meteors are literally "falling stars" (67:5, 7:28), the earth is the top of seven flat discs, etc. The source of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers is somewhere up in that firmament (Sahih Bukhari 9:93:68), somewhere near the 8 giant goats which are in the sky also.
With all these errors, how can anyone have faith in these books?
If you don't question your religion, you get Jim Jones, Heaven's Gate, Branch Davidians (Waco), Rev. Moon, Scientology. So who's "stupid", me or you? Two themes that need a response:
1. I understand it's not *all* literal, but how do you know *any* of the Bible is literal? How can you rely on text which can always be claimed to be allegory?
2. I realize it's not a "science book", but God inspired scientific claims that are wrong. If you say the Bible is a work of men, it's still wrong, and thus unreliable.
