• How to Respond to This Come-On?

I'm a tall, good-looking, white guy with my long wavy hair in sort of a 'fro. Girls come up to me, touch my hair, and compliment me on it, but I don't know what to say so it gets me nowhere. What should I say to a girl who approaches me like this?

  • I turned down sex. What do you think about that?

I feel weird that I turned both of these girls down. It seems almost crazy and I'm surprised I did it. On the other hand, I know it was best for me and the right thing to do. I'm a romantic guy who's looking for love. If I don't like the situation, there is nothing a girl can do to convince me. I don't care how hot the girl is, I won't have sex outside of a relationship. Isn't this unusual?

(I provide a list of the reasons I can tell she has feelings for me. They are obvious.) You're torn between me and your boyfriend. You can't have both. If you want to be more than friends, I'm interested. If you want to be just friends then I'm going to move on and find someone else. I can't wait around for you forever. Take your chance with me or let me go. Here's your choice: A guy you love enough to let him hurt you OR A guy who'll probably love you so much it hurts You'd be giving up something okay for a chance at something wonderful. There are some areas in life where it's good enough to settle for "just okay" but when it comes to love no one ever should. I know that this is a risk, but it's a risk worth taking. This is a risk for me too, but you're worth it.

I think you've been avoiding the issue because it's easier than dealing with it. Here's how I know this: -If you were sure that you wanted to be with your boyfriend, you wouldn't have talked to me like you did when we first met. -If you were sure that you didn't want to be with me, you wouldn't be talking to me like you have been recently. -We talk on the phone for hours each week and you've been very busy. That's a lot of your free time. Why were you spending it on me? -You probably don't tell many people that you talk to me all the time, because you have a boyfriend. -You're risking your relationship with your boyfriend by talking to me so much, yet you still do it. -The fact that you call me so often implies that you like me and are interested.

She met me at college and decided to pursue something with me. We started talking on the phone an hour a night. I asked her out and found out she has a boyfriend. I was disappointed and she was surprised that I was. I let her know that I was interested in a relationship. She wanted to be friends with benefits and stay with her boyfriend. We became friends and still talked regularly. I tried to just be her friend but I realized that I have feelings for her. I surprised her after work, took her out to dinner, and told her how I felt. I explained that I wanted to date her but only exclusively. It was a bit awkward. Afterwards we are still friends but are not as close. She doesn't call as often; I rarely call. I'm still interested in dating her. Where do we go from here?
