• Is there any point in me enrolling in a dental technician course (Australia)?

I live in Western Australia, so I doubt there's all that much demand for dental technicians as there are for nurses or early childhood educators. Early childhood interests me, but there's not much room to move up if you're working in a childcare centre. Dental technology is the only other thing that seems to interest me, but I don't know if it's worth the effort. I wouldn't mind working in a quiet environment, being creative, and doing a lot of hands-on work. I'm just wondering if, once qualified, I'll even be able to find a job where I live. I've also heard that dentists in Australia are looking to other countries to produce veneers/dentures etc. for Australian clients as the material regulations suck here so no one wants what we have to offer. I'm 24 years old and have no idea what to do with my life. Does anyone here have any advice? Any of you familiar with this industry? Thank you!

  • What is the most PSYCHIC experience you've ever had (as in, you predicted/experienced something personally)?

The most psychic experience I've had is predicting my mother's death. I was always protective of her- even as a baby. I always felt like I'd lose her and I was helpless to do anything about it. As I got older, I feared her driving in her car. I didn't have an issue with her getting on a plane and going to another country, but when it... show more

I didn't have an issue with her getting on a plane and going to another country, but when it came to her driving, I wouldn't be able to feel at ease until she made it back home. I always made sure the last things I said to her before she drove somewhere were, "I love you," and "drive safe." I started having dreams about her dying. One in particular, I was at school painting and the painting in front of me was of the setting where my mother 'died'. It was a road with tall trees on either side. In my dream, my teacher was standing by me looking at the picture and she told me that my mum had taken the "wrong road." The last time I saw my mum was when she dropped me off at school before driving a few hours to spend a few days with her boyfriend and his parents. The second she pulled up at the school and told me to go, I went into a sudden panic and didn't want to leave. I felt like if I let her go, she wouldn't come back. I even went as far as telling her she's going to die and if she wants to go then at least take me with her. (cont...)

  • Do you think it's dangerous for a director to humanize/draw sympathy to the 'bad guy' in their work?

Even if their actions are still promoted as being mislead/toxic, do you think anything good can come from showing things from the perspective of a murderer/extremist/homophobe/racist etc? Do you think it's ever right to draw empathy toward such people in film?

  • Can you set a clip on iMovie to a specific speed rather than only 50, 25, and 10 percent?

For example, 2.8 percent? I m pretty sure the Windows Media editor that came with my old $600 laptop allowed me to do it. Apple should certainly have this option too...

  • What can cause a chronic cough/throat irritation that NEVER goes away?

I saw an ENT specialist recently and he found nothing wrong with my ears (all he did was look in my ears, throat, and do a pressure test though. The membranes are unresponsive to sound, no other symptoms). Anyway, this bloody cough is driving me crazy. It's like when you're sick and ever time you breathe out or say something, you involuntarily need to cough as it irritates your throat. I can't sing anymore because my throat closes up due to the irritation and I need to keep coughing. I'm completely miserable and don't know what to do. It started overnight in 2012 and hasn't gone away since. I don't think it's allergies as I used to have daily (severe) hay fever which I haven't experienced in literal years after deciding to follow a plant-based diet. My body feels perfectly fine apart from my ears and cough which make enjoying life impossible. Just breathing makes me want to constantly cough and I'm worried I'm going to end up with bronchitis. :/

  • How I Met Your Mother: Were there alternate episodes filmed or something? I watched the series through, and I swear it was different...?

One thing I remember happening is Zoey (played by Jennifer Morrison) going back to the 'Captain' because she realised she was still in love with him and that being with Ted was a mistake. SHE ended up with him, not the boat girl. Another thing I remember is Robin acting strange when they were all at someone's wedding or reunion (I just remember it being a big event in a ballroom). She went to the bathroom and Lily followed her. She revealed to Lily that she thought she was pregnant and that it might be Ted's. This was after they split up, but they had a one night stand or something. I'm not getting confused with the time she thought she was pregnant with Barney's kid and found out she couldn't have children. I remember Ted finding out (I don't think Robin wanted him to know... maybe Lily let it slip), but in the end Robin found out that she isn't really pregnant and I think it broke Ted's heart a little bit because, again, it shattered his hopes of ending up with her someday. Anyway, I didn't imagine all this. I watched those episodes when they were playing on TV and they stuck with me ever since. I was waiting for these moments when I decided to do a rewatch and they never came! Does anyone else remember these episodes?

  • Take the easy road and become an early childhood educator (child care), or the hard road and become a dental technician?

I've spent years in nursing school and it's honestly made me miserable and has put me off uni completely. Not only do I have a crap memory when it comes to scientific terminology, but I went through a lot since 2012 and I am no longer in a place where I can work with sick people and come home at night and not carry it back with me. For that reason, I thought a certificate or diploma in early childhood would be something I can accomplish as I love children and would enjoy a job that entails creativity and a positive environment. I have no experience babysitting or anything, but it's a role I think I could grow into. The only problem is that the pay is only around $800 a week full-time and there really isn't any opportunity for the pay to increase with experience. I just discovered the dental technician course today and it looks like something I could enjoy if I manage to get through the coursework. The only problem is that this course is $12000 more than the early childhood course, so if I fail then I'm not getting that money back. I really don't know how intensive this course is in terms of theory and that worries me. I was a creative student in school though, so at least I can incorporate that into a job that pays well. What do you think? Should I take the risk and get a better pay, or go with something I know I'll enjoy but that won't pay well?

  • Any driving instructors (cars only) in Australia or Western Australia? I'm curious- how many hours do you work and how much do you earn?

I'm considering doing the 2-week course so that I have an extra qualification. I've heard you can earn up to $80 000 as a driving instructor in WA. Is that true?
