G'day guys, I did a really stupid thing last night. . . I came back from the local pub, and because my drivers licence has been expired for two years, I had to use my passport for ID. Now, I was really tired and I'd forgotten that I left my passport in my jeans pocket, and I tossed my jeans in the wash. This morning I look through wash, and find little bits of plasticy paper inside, and then found out it was my passport. I still had three years left on my Australian passport, but I was wondering if anyone knew wether I just had to put in a 'Renewing Passport" application, or if I had to start from scratch, because I went to the post office this morning and one lady told me that I had to fill out a RENEWAL form, the other told me I had to get an application for a "NEW" passport. SO, I was wondering if anyone had this problem? I tried calling Sydney Passport Office at the Immigration centre, but I was on hold forever, and I wanted to try this - as it might be quicker (and hopefully I don't have to spend lots of money on call waiting for two hours!) ANYWHO! Thank you! Muchly appreciated if anyone has any clues?!

  • Curious as to why Republicans are SO anti public health insurance?

This was a big issue for many of the McCain votes, calling Obama a communist because he believed that tax payers money should be used for certain things, and one example being Health Care. A public health Care system. In England, there's the NHS system, National Health Care System, which supports any one that's in need, free of charge- when needed. Sure, there CAN be cues, and long waiting lists- but there's private health insurance for those that can afford it, and of course- cues and waiting lists are considerably less. In Australia, we have a Public Health Care system (Medicare) and a number of private health insurance companies. Tax Payers money, in Australia does contribute to the public health care system, which enables people to get vaccines, immunisation programs for free, hospital cover and GP Bulk Billing and so on. Without a Public Health system in place, so many peolle wouldn't be able to afford health care, and it puts alot of people in great danger. Unlike the UK system, not all of it's free, you still have to pay for standard things, which arent in hospital, but are heavily subsidised by the govt. What I want to find out, is why people are so against this public health care system in the US, when it's so benificial to everyone.

  • Wobbly/loose adult tooth with Quad Helix Expander (RME expander)?

Hey guys, I've had my Quad Helix expander (Which is a Rapid Maxillary Expander) on my top jaw, for 9 weeks now- and it's been all fine, and I've noticed teeth moving to create space- and i've got quite large gaps between certain teeth. Yesterday though, one tooth *two teeth down from my front tooth on the left side* has moved considerably, and it's sticking out kinda. It's not in line with the rest of my teeth anymore, and before it was. That's not really the problem, I'm getting braces in a few weeks- so I know that will fix it. PROBLEM! It feels really wobbly, and loose- and I pushed (gently) against it a few times, and it moves under my finger, and I can tell because I do the same to the tooth next to it, and it doesn't move at all. I was wondering wether this was normal, or if I should call my orthodontist or general dentist. or, just leave it until my next adjustment appointment (which is at the end of November). All answers will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!!

  • Quad Helix Expander Question!!?

Hi guys, I got a QuadHelix expander in on friday. It's hurt a little, but not very much at all (haven't needed to take pain killers). I know the deal with the imprint on the tongue and the annoyance of the appliance, but two questions!! (as my orthodontist isn't open on weekends to ask!) 1. I can't actually bite together. Not that it's too sore (it's a bit tender) but on the right hand side, my teeth don't actually come together. I do have a cross bite - the right side top jaw goes underneath the bottom teeth, on the left side of the upper jaw, the teeth bite over the bottom. Now, the problem- the metal ring on the molar - there's a little thing on the side of it, i think that's what's preventing me from biting down. (it's too low perhaps, and i'm biting on the little side thingy on the molar band, as opposed to my teeth comming down on it) Does this need to be fixed? Am I not supposed to be able to close my teeth on the right side? Or is that not normal? 2. I'm having great difficulty in swallowing food. Even drinking water and stuff. I haven't tried to eat anything hard, or chewy- just mash, and soup.. But I still am finding it difficult. My tongue keeps getting caught, and the mash feels as though it just wont go down because it's going to the roof of my mouth with the wires and all. agh! If you've got experience with a quad helix expander, any answer would be muchly appreciated!!! Thanks! :D

  • First Orthodontist Visit and Braces. :) I wanted to know how long it took from first appointment to get braces

Hey everyone. Just wanted to know how long (roughly) it is from your first orthodontist visit (where you get the moulds and x-rays taken etc) to actually get your braces on? Hey everyone. Just wanted to know how long (roughly) it is from your first orthodontist visit (where you get the moulds and x-rays taken etc) to actually get your braces on? I've got my first orthodontist visit in mid- August, and I'm going overseas in September, and I wondered whether or not I'd have my braces by the time I go overseas. I've had three teeth extracted due to caries and abscesses, and my genral dentist said I probably wouldn't need any more teeth taken out for orthodontal work. I also have an impacted canine tooth, which sits above my teeth on the front of the jaw, which is breaking through the gum already.. I don't know if that will affect my orthodontic work or not. Genral dentist didn't mention it. Thanks guys. Much appreciated! :)
