We just had an inspection on a house we would like to buy. We expected there to be issues, seeing how the house was built in 1977. The porch columns on the house has some wood rot, the paint on the exterior is chipping and needs to be repainted, the deck needs to be fixed, the wiring on the garage opener is not wired well, along with some other minor things, but our major concern is the furnace, which has not been serviced in over 5yrs, its not lifted off the ground and there was a sink hole found in the back yard by the deck. How should we handle that? Should we have them service the furnace and figure out what is going on with the sink hole...or should we have those area inspected by a professional before buying...or buy it and fix it ourselves? Also, are suppose we give a copy of the inspection to our Realtor agent?
