So here's my situation, guys: I have no car. Parental figures are not good people, I just turned 21 and they still haven't even given me a second driving lesson. I've been saving up money for a car, but just recently I was told they'd no longer help me get to work, even though without a ride there it'll cost me $80 a week to get to work and back. I don't have enough saved up for a car, and couldn't even drive it if I did. So what are my options? Obviously a motorcycle is too dangerous and requires too much skill for me where I'm at right now. Should I get an electric bike? A Moped, I need something so I can get to work and back, and more often, so that I can save up for a car. Any help would save my life, figuratively and potentially literally.

  • What is a good first car?

I’m looking to buy my first car soon and I want to know what a good starter car for a teen would be. I was looking at a 1990 Mercedes Benz 420 SEL and a 1993 Mercedes Benz 300E. Honestly, I’m just looking for a cheaper car that will get me where I’m needing to go. Thanks for any help!

You wont be getting a loan for that small an amount.

Your biggest concern with a $1500 car is making sure its not a piece of crap. That means at least a half hour test drive and then if you still like it, have a mechanic listen to it.

A 2003 Altima is generally going to cost more than $1500 unless its got 275,000 miles.

  • How many miles is too many for yoy when buying a used vehicle?

Best answer: I stay under 200K miles. 100K is about the sweet spot; I can more reliably get another 150K miles out of a car with 100K miles that is in good shape than out of one with 50K miles. At 50K miles it is hard to tell how the car has been treated; at 100K miles it is hard to hide.

I've saved up about $5k for my first car from my summer and fall job and am now looking to buy my first car! Does anyone have any recommendations on what car I should be looking for? Budget is $5k and it needs to be a four door with preferably less than 130,000 miles. 17 year old male by the way.

Prior to that I was in college and grad school full time with shitty part time jobs, then i had to do an apprenticeship. So for me it was better to just have a used car to get from point a to point b until i was a little more comfortable. Pay all your bills on time and make sure your credit score is good otherwise you may need a cosigner. adding a car payment has not effected my life at all because i planned for it for a while. plenty of people had bought cars before me but they had different circumstances leading to that decision. I am super anal when it comes to money and spending so i like to plan a lot and not spend much lol others were willing to spend more earlier on on a new car. just depends on you!

I talked to Chevy and I guess the shortest lease term they do is two years with what I'm trying to do I'm sure I'll qualify for a Chevy Cruze or a smaller car... I don't want to do a lease but I know in 2 years my credit can jump up very high then I can just give the car back... Would it make sense to just keep making payments and have the Impala paid off in about 15 months or getting to a brand new car for 24 months and just turn the car back in and walk free and clear? Credit karma said my score is 660 Equifax and 636 TransUnion.

We have 2 kids (5 and 8 months). We have a third on the way. We have a Ford Escape right now. It’s getting too small. There’s no room for a third car seat in the back. We went to a dealership yesterday and we found a Dodge Journey. 7 seater, everything we have ever wanted in a vehicle. (They gave us a 3 day permit to test it out and let us have time to think it over while driving it.) But the only thing is, the monthly payments are way over budget. My husband doesn’t really get this and is all for getting this vehicle but isn’t thinking clearly or ahead. I mean, we can afford it, but it’ll be extremely financially tight. So I don’t want to get it because I stress a lot over money. I was looking at another vehicle that will definitely fit our budget, even below budget. It’s a 2017 Chevy Cruze. I love it. It looks really spacious in the back like it’ll fit 3 car seats. I think this will be the best option for us. Has anyone put 3 car seats in the back of a 5 seater car? I looked in the back of 5 seaters and the Chevy Cruze has more room than other car even my Ford Escape. Please don’t tell me to buy a car straight up with no payments. That’s not an option.

  • I need help to decide between two vehicles.?

I live in Maine with wintery conditions. The two cars are 2012 Toyota Corolla LE sedan automatic, and a 2013 Mazda 3 i SV sedan automatic. Both with around 30,000 miles. I'm leaning with the Mazda 3 but I would like to hear opinions.
