  • Why did Microsoft kill Windows Movie Maker and why they didn't make a new version or just update it?

Best answer: Windows Movie Maker was discontinued due to the Windows Live Movie Maker, which belongs to the Windows Live Essencials, which is not embedded on Windows 7 by default (you must download and install it manually).

  • Is windows 10 bad to look at visually compared to previous operating systems?

Best answer: Yes, you can choose a wallpaper and change the colour themes.

While it's still a bloated operating system, it's extremely stable. As for the visual side, that's a matter of personal taste....

Best answer: Any Linux distro, or any OS for that matter, can be run in a virtual environment. Just follow these instructions in this video, on how to install a virtual machine, and then how to install an OS within it. In this case he shows you how to install Oracle VirtualBox, which is free and extremely easy.

    https://youtu.be/jyi-NuqiLr0

What exactly are you planning on doing by installing a virtual machine on his machine? How do you expect it will protect him from further infections? If he runs things in the host machine, then it's just going to get infected all over again. He has to be using the virtual machine to get protected, but using the virtual machine is optional and anything that is optional won't get used.

Also you should consider running Windows 10 virtual machine inside the Windows 10 host machine. A casual user won't feel very inclined to use an OS that he's not familiar with, but if the OS is something they are familiar with then they'll use it. It is perfectly fine to run the same OS inside a virtual machine as the host machine.

Also, all the files that were already on my external hard drives have become 'read only' so I cannot edit or delete them (I can only copy). Any advice on why this has occurred and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
