Anywho we brought it home, we have no small children or other pets, we were quiet all the time, brought him food and touched him gently, but the only thing he is trying to do is get somewhere dark. Now he is sitting in the bag we brought him in. I have had cats all my life, never had such a scared cat. He had been sitting behind my husband on an arm chair, then he went into dark bag by himself. His eyes are dark brown instead of blue, which means he is scared. Why on earth he is scared and what should we do with it. He seems to be so scared. Doesn't wanna eat or play. Please cat lovers give me some advice.

(we want to get him tested for parasites and diseases) hes also long haired and we were wanting to get him shaved (hes extremely matted) with him being a stray is that something that vets do? thanks in advance

We decided to put the older cat in a different room to calm him down. After waiting awhile I decided to go check on him and he began trying to attack me, hissing, and even a noise that sounded like screaming? We read online that you have to give them both time before automatically pushing them together, doing small gestures to get them together. I’m more curious as to what to do about my older cat freaking out the way he did on me, and what to do to about it. If anyone has any personal experience as how to resolve the situation, any information would be valuable! Please and thank you!!

The diarrhea is likely not related to his URI, but a separate issue so be sure to take a nice, fresh stool sample with you. If it's bacterial (discolored discharge from nose and/or eyes) then it's bacterial and he'll need an antibiotic. Be sure to write down a bit of the history here - when you got him, what vaccines he has had, how long the symptoms lasted, and how long has he had them this time. It's tough to remember everything when you go to the vet. If he has had no vaccines at all, he likely has a virus, and antibiotics won't help with that. Some kittens get off to a poor start. Feed him quality foods that are meat based (not cereal based), as top nutrition always helps. Feeding a grocery store dry food is not top nutrition :(

It s really difficult when he s being loud and preventing me from sleeping. (I work super early mornings). He has plenty of food, water, a nice cozy bed and toys and lots of love but he still continues to cry and cry until you pick him up and pet him and if you don t pick him up when he wants you to he will climb your pants leg. What are some good ways to break these habits?

I have a local store that carries chicken liver and hearts. This cat has had it before in the past, long story. But he will ONLY eat grinds. There's going to be a while before I get a meat grinder, and I do not have a local butcher, the closest one is 30 minutes away. So I will be buying pre ground, doing the math and ratios, then blending the other bits and adding however much etc etc. I already have my bone supplement. But can I just do chicken? I know with dogs, it turns their feces yellow and you're supposed to mix up the protein sources.

Keeping the cat in a kennel in a high place when you are present is absolutely right.

At one point I had four large adult dogs (who had cohabited with a cat for a few years but that cat had passed a year before). I brought home an adult, very very badass cat that was intended to be a ratter. The dogs were interested but not aggresive but the cat was very very very agressive and would literally attack the dogs if given a chance. I kept the cat in my art studio separated from the dog yard by a sturdy exterior door during the day. AT night when I worked in the studio I would put the cat in a carrier on top of a stack of boxes in the loft. He could hear and smell, but not see the dogs at first, who would all be sleeping quietly at my feet while I worked. Over MONTHS I moved the carrier closer and closer til finally it was on the floor, locked, while the dogs all slept. Eventually I was able to open the door, and eventually the cat would come out. It was probably a year before they were all out in the same space and I was still very careful about quick movements and things that might get anyone excited or upset. They dogs and cat never loved each other and never played together, but they did respect and tolerate each other for the most part.

I don’t think your situation will take as long - but never ever rush it because a bad experience can cause permanent trauma and / or injury.

On and off she’ll go through phases where she’ll use the littler box but then she’ll suddenly go back to peeing everywhere. And it’s just pee too. I’ve tried different litter boxes, multiple boxes, different litters. I clean the litter box twice a day too. Nothing works and I don’t know what do. We adopted her as a kitten when I was two years old so it was my parents who trained her. I really don’t know what to do and my dad wants to get rid of her because our whole house just reeks of cat pee. Obviously I don’t want to get rid of and I’m not going to, but it’s getting ridiculous and I’m out of ideas.

  • How common is it for someone to get sick from a house cat's scratch?

The cat is clean and never goes outside. Doesn't show any signs of being sick herself. I'd still like to know how common it is. Should someone be worried if they're scratched by their house cat? What signs should they look out for after being scratched?
