• Why has my gas mileage dropped?

I drive a 2014 Ford Focus ST. I recently reset my dashboard stats and noticed my average mpg has gone way down. So I reset it again and did some slow driving. I used to get around 31 mpg highway and now I’m getting 24. Tire pressure is fine.

Is there a way to reset the central locking or does anyone know how I can fix the problem?

  • I have a 1996 ford truck with the straight 6. It skips like it's missing when going up hills. I believe it might be fuel or spark related.?

Best answer: My 1994 Ford truck started to do the same thing, felt like skipping or missing but no check engine light. I inspected the spark plug wires and found corrosion on one of the wires where it plugs into the distributor. Replacing the distributor cap and spark plug wires fixed the problem for me.

  • If Ford is the best selling brand in the US, then why is Ford stock only selling for: $12.58 today?

Since Ford is such a popular brand, you'd think the stocks would be selling for a lot more! It seems like it would be selling for about $5,000 per share. What is affecting Ford to make the stock be so low? In 2007, I remember it was at $11.00/share. It has gone up a little over the past 10 years, but not... show more

Best answer: It's an interference engine. This is one of the reasons it has a timing chain rather than a timing belt.

Its pretty slow and sluggish off the line unless I mash on it to 4000+ rmps. Then she flys. Where as before i would floor it and the rpms would go up but fall some also. I'm thinking I'll clean my throttle body later, but want to get some further advice from someone with more experience. Thanks!

    Spark plugs,
    Ohm ignition wires
    Distributor cap and rotor.
    Replace PCV valve
    Clean EGR valve
Look for cracked or displaced vacuum lines
Then chase fueling issues. (fuel rail pressure, injectors malfunction) if still missing, while running pull one spark plug wire - if the engine stalls or gets worse, replace the wire and go to the next plug, repeat until you find a cylinder that does NOT change the missing idle and you have found the cylinder(s) that need more testing.

  • I have a 1992 Ford F-150 Custom. When I go to start it, it takes about 20 seconds Holding the key to start. I put new spark plugs. Any idea?

Best answer: Holding the key for 20 seconds is a darned good way to burn up your starter, so then you''ll have two problems to fix. Starters get very hot very quickly. Cranking them for more than 3-4 seconds isn't good for them at all. So you put in new spark plugs. Did you gap each of them correctly first? They... show more

So you put in new spark plugs. Did you gap each of them correctly first? They don't come out of the box gapped properly.

Have you checked for fault codes from the ECU? Any auto parts store will check it for free.

Get the fuel pressure checked if you can't do it yourself.

Below could also caused your problem

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
    Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)
    Weak ignition coil
