  • Locking the cat alone in a room?

My cat is 3 months old he keeps peeing outside the litter box i took him to the vet and he said i should lock him alone in a room with his food+litter box for like 5 hours or more. And he will stop peeing outside, I feel like this isn’t a solution? Right?

  • Advise for a beginner cat owner?

I have done all my research and feel I am prepared to adopt a cat for the first time (only ever had dogs). I know how to take care of it, but besides care tips, any random advice? Something you wish you would have known before adopting a cat?

He s been brought in to the vet twice, and nothing is wrong health wise. I have NEVER responded to the cats meows in anyways, I have not said anything, or thrown anything at the door in attempts to get the cat to stop. There are days I have been late for work trying to avoid opening the door until the cat is quiet, and I REFUSE to sleep with my door open as it makes me very uncomfortable and causes a restless sleep.

Best answer: If you're considering getting a cat, go to the shelter and observe some of the cats and kittens. Even volunteer there, so you know what cats are like. That way, you won't end up with an animal you don't really want.

Even better, you could foster a couple cats for a rescue league, which would give you a first-hand view.

But, each cat is different. Some are outgoing, like to play, meow a lot. Others are quiet and don't do much. A cat who wasn't handled much might hide due to fear.

Cats don't just go around biting, but during play might try to grab a toy, or accidentally use their claws to get something.

Dogs past the age of about 1 or 2 don't bite, anymore, so wondering just how much you know about animals. My dogs have never bitten anyone or anything, past the puppy nibbles.

I would suggest volunteering at the shelter for 2 or 3 months - or with a rescue league. That will give you lots of free information. You might just like doing it.

  • What are ways a cat says I love you to its owner?

Best answer: Cats show affection through hanging out near their owners, rubbing their heads/bodies on their owners, purring, flopping over near their owners, sleeping near their owners, bringing gifts like dead prey or toys, etc.

Each cat has a unique personality, so they all "say I love you" a little differently.

My cat died, i miss him so much and i cried a lot when he passed. He was almost 9 years old, strong, energetic, healthy great fun, beautiful and best friend ive ever had, i spent lots of time with him, just sitting in my room chilling out, maybe i would draw, play my guitar, watch some youtube, and he'd be there in the corner on the chair, or his bed or my bed or when it was sunny and the sun hits off the wall in my room he'd curl up in the rays of the sun and just chill. Sadly on Wednesday the 24th of January at 2:20 pm, he came in my bedroom window and i put him on my lap, his right arm went limp and i put him down to see if he could stand, he couldn't and he flopped over on the ground, i freaked out and rang the vet, he stayed the night and they gave him an iv and blood test, no poison, a mystery, he let out a huge meow when i went down to collect him. His condition didn't improve though, then back to being weak, barely eating to not eating at all, just water, sleeping, losing weight and having zero energy. I took him back around the 31st, they gave me tablets, no improvement and then the 1st 2nd, and 3rd he was not doing good at all, heavy breathing and strange meowing, woke up on Sunday the 4th at half 8 and he was making strange meow sounds and he wet my bed. We called the emergency vet who gave him oxygen and he told us to come back and an hour later my sister got a call to say he died, i miss him so much. We think he had a brain tumor, must have been genetic.

My cat is 12 years old, but according to the vet, his body is more like 17-19 year old cat. Vet took care of the blockage, prescribed meds and special diet to address his other issues. He was getting better, but he is not doing so well now as he just became incontinent. He will pee where he sleeps, bathroom, kitchen but I have seen him use litter box too. He is destroying the house, the furniture, and I'm sure I smell like urine. I love my cat very much and my heart is breaking to see him like this since he still has spark in his eyes. I did everything I can to make him better.

  • How do I stop my cat putting his paw in my drinks?

My cat never fails to dip his dirty paws in my drinks and I can’t stop him he’s a naughty boy. I’ve litrally seen his paws stained purple from squash before now can’t even have a glass of water without him getting curious and dipping his paws in it to try it even though he has fresh water every day. What should I do?

Best answer: Well, I have two cats who have been doing the same thing for the past 13 years--and not just when a female might be "in heat" which is ridiculous when your kitten was spayed on time. Ours have this issue nearly every single day. They were both altered on time. She rejects him every day, then he does the usual posturing and she lays down after realizing it's no longer worth the fight or hissing time. A male cat will grab the female by the scruff of the neck whether he's got bullets in the chamber or not, and that is not dangerous to your female. The almost fighting should not worry you unless you see some good scratches on his face! Keep her claws sharper and clip his more often.

As for your baby doggy, I'd say that if he's violent towards the male and going to fight, which chihuahuas are very likely to do, you may want to separate your dog from your kitties during the day when you are gone. OR, put your dog and female kitty alone in the bigger part of your home, and the male in a good sized room (not a closet or bathroom) with plenty of food and water, toys, and a litterbox while you are out.

There can be a rare condition in which a male cat has additional reproductive tissue hidden in the abdominal area (which means additional surgery to remove the tissue), but it is very rare--and that would usually show up first in his spraying everywhere. If you don't have him spraying, it is most likely not that. At least yours aren't siblings! Your male is very young and he may slow down once adolescence is over. He's still very young.
