my boyfriend and i just moved into an apartment together and we have noticed a larger (what we assume to be male) cat wandering around the complex. so we decided to leave him a food and water bowl on our back porch. he now waits on us to come outside so we can pet him and feed him. when we go back inside he sits at our sliding glass door looking inside. we have grown attatched to him and with it being so cold outside we decided that we want to if possible bring him inside to live with us and our other two cats. we can pet him but cannot pick him up, approach his back end, or corner him in anyway. his ear appears to be "knotched" which leads me to believe that he has been fixed. however is this a good idea? how should i go about this? i live in OH is there a program to help vetting not be so expensive? (we want to get him tested for parasites and diseases) hes also long haired and we were wanting to get him shaved (hes extremely matted) with him being a stray is that something that vets do? thanks in advance

  • Why do so many people hate cats?

It isn't really fair to judge an entire species just because of one bad experience or judgement. Same for other animals, objects, etc.

Me and my sister have kittens they are about 8-10 weeks old, 10 weeks at most so they’re about the same age. I got my kitten BEFORE my sister got hers. She’s younger so of course she wanted one too, my mom got her one and she got a kitten the next day. The first night my kitty was growling and hissing and my sister’s kitten. Which i figured was him just establishing dominance since my kitten was here first. They’ve only been here since Dec. 2nd. about 2 days ago is when i noticed what i’m not sure is playing or fighting. My sisters kitten will walk or pounce on my kittens but and they’ll start biting each other. My kitten swats his paws at the other kitten, but can’t tell if he’s using claws, I don’t think so though. My kitten will simply walk away when he’s done getting his hits in i suppose.... and my sisters cat will go back and pounce on his back and start tossing him over, quite hard actually. Are they playing or fighting? If fighting do I need to reintroduce them? Split them up? Punish for fighting? (put in a nother room for a few minutes or so) please help! thanks in advance.

My 12 year old cat, Cheetah, was kidney cancer and he's not going to survive. I really want him to enjoy the last week of his life but he's so weak and won't eat. He can still walk but he can't run, jump, play or anything like that and he's usually very playful but now he just sleeps all day. I love him with all my heart but I just can't make him eat. Hard food, soft food, treats, human food, his favourite food, nothing. We have to give him medication daily but it's in a pellet crushed into his food which, of course, he won't eat. I'm so sad and have tried everything, I don't want to lose him. Not now, not ever. But there's little to no hope. How can I make his life better before we put him down? (If I put him anywhere comfy he just goes outside again and sleeps)

  • Can you use flea shampoo as well as flea ointment? is it safe?

Our cats use the advantage flea ointment (the one that goes on their neck) and i was wondering if it was safe to give them a flea bath as well. It's been over a week since the ointment was last applied.

  • If my mom owns a cat in her name, am I also responsible for it?

Okay I’m 18 and my mother has had a cat for 4 years, and since the cat is not under my name and I have no ownership of this cat, if I decide to neglect the cat and it just so happened to die, will I get in trouble for animal cruelty even though the cat isn’t mine?

  • What breed is this my cat?

What breed is this my cat?

Best answer: Most cats in the world aren't a breed or even a mix of breeds - they are the cats that Nature created. Yours is one of those - a domestic short hair, color is blue (in the cat and dog world, grey is called blue). Doesn't make him any less special. His fur looks very plush!

  • Would it be a bad idea to put an earring in my cat's ear?

Best answer: Yes, very bad idea.
It could get caught up on something, and if the cat struggles it could tear its ear badly.
