• Is Amazon a rip off?

I never find deals, unless it's tech but then again you can easily find that at stores like target and best buy and for better prices. Also that prime thing charged me immediately and that's just for the trial, why is that?

I usually wouldn't be bothered but I'm concerned as it hasn't been dispatched and it cost a lot of money.

Best answer: While some packages are stolen, the majority are not so you should be fine.

You would have to request a signature requirement for the package, that way whomever delivers it (post office, UPS, FedEx, etc) can't deliver the package and leave it on the porch or in the mailbox. There is usually a fee for this. However there is also the risk that if they cannot deliver it and the recipient doesn't make arrangements to pick it up after so many attempts, it will be returned to Amazon.

I have stores on both eBay and Amazon (in the marketplace) and for certain items I require a signature for the item, that way I know it reached its destination (and the buyer cannot say they didn't receive it). UPS even has an option to require an "adult signature". That is something that all shipping carriers charge an additional fee for. Amazon doesn't fulfill my shipping for me, I send the items myself.

Smaller items of lesser value, I don't care. I'm shipping out a digital camera I sold on Amazon for $400 tomorrow and in paying for shipping, I added requiring a signature for the package (that was an extra fee).

If USPS (post office) delivers the package, they automatically put $50 of insurance on the package. Anything over that amount they charge a fee for.
FedEx puts a value of $100 on it and you can pay extra for it. You can pay extra for more on a declared value, if the item will be delivered by FedEx, but if it's "SmartPost" (where it ends up being delivered by USPS) you cannot.
UPS automatically puts $50 of insurance on a package and anything more you have to pay for as the "declared value". In the Amazon marketplace if you ship UPS, the declared value is whatever the price of the item was.

For UPS if no one was there to receive the package and they left it in a specific location, in the tracking the delivery driver will indicate exactly where they left it. The same driver comes to me every time I have something delivered by UPS and if nobody is home, he will leave the package inside the garage. Some smaller packages he will leave it on the porch but will put it in a spot that's not visible or if I have like a trash can or something on my porch, he will put that in front of it and he always leaves treats on the boxes for my dogs.

  • Can Amazon raise the price of product after you buy it?

Best answer: Yes. You pay what it costs when you buy the item. If you delayed purchasing it, then you pay the cost at the time of purchase, at delivery, since that is the option you chose.
