As long as it retains its name and the suffix '...philia' then it could be rightly and legally classified as an illness.
Sometimes though I feel a bit of compassion for those who have the urge. I mean we all do some things we're not proud of, but those with the urge to have a sexual contact or proper intercourse with children should have a rethink and try to hold back. Not because of what people say or what is shoved down their throats, but because non-consensual sex is immoral and simply wrong.
They should pay sufficient attention to the law as it is today. Those who have been classified as minors should not be touched, they deserve that innocence. Sometimes it's really difficult to hold back sexual urge, but for the sake of the minor and the child, hold back and instead, try to become friendly with someone just above 18, such a person could help in fighting the urge.
I for one would not like to have my child (if I should have any in the future) molested, forced or lured into something obscene. And I'm sure this would apply to those people with the urge as well.
A word for the society as well. We must stop representing children and minors in a sexually enticing way if we really want to help eliminate this obsession. Whether we choose to call it art or not, we must not give individuals fighting this sort of inclination something to keep their eyes on and continue.
The modelling, film, and entertainment industry at large do not seem to be helping the issue either. We must understand that in some societies what we would consider paedophilia is done without any regrets and is widely accepted, therefore we must give the clear impression and send the strong message that our societies are different in all ways.
