There's a person i know, not very well at all, but that I see on a daily basis.

When I do see her, she tells me her life story. She's only young (17) and in my opinion (and other peoples opinions) she needs some advice.

She tells me about her boyfriend (who is 33) and from everything she says he sounds like an alcoholic. She seems to be happy with him - but has said on several occassions she's given up caring about his drinking.

I just listen to her and do not put my opinion of the whole situation in.

In this case would it be suitable for me to put my opinion in? I've seen what drinking does to people and it's sad that she could be headed for a life of hell.

Would you personally tell her what you've been through with alcoholics or just listen, smile and nod and let her figure it out on her own.
