Many Americans were blissfully ignorant to the fact that their standard of living was being maintained by huge borrowing from foreign nations and that eventually it was all going to burst.

Americans are now starting to wake up to these facts and actively do something about it, however, it's all come a little too late. While America is heavily indebted and having to work hard to fix an economy that is severely damaged, China has a positive bank balence and it's full steam ahead. Obviously, less orders for American products to be manufactured in China will have some what of an effect, but I don't feel it will effect them too much.

Do you feel the US will remain the dominant super-power? Will the US economy recover to it's previous strength? Where do you predict to US will be in 10 years time?
Update: K'lee: You make some good points, however, I would like to add that I wasn't applying anything negative towards the American people personally. America's problems are largely a result of government mismanagement, not the people.
