Ripe juicy peaches are just awesome as something to feel blessed just to eat! I live in the UK so we don't get just picked sun warmed peaches, when we buy them they are hard and unripe and it's a miracle just to get them to get to the sweet juicy stage. My grandma's Sunday dessert treat was tinned peaches with condensed milk- with a slice of white bread and butter on the side- sounds weird but I loved it as a kid.
One thing I like is to get ripe but still firm peaches, halve and stone, then throw flesh side down on a griddle for 3 mins or so. The heat and char seems to bring out the taste, gorgeous served with a creamy blue cheese if you like savoury, or caramelised pecans if you like sweet. Also fabulous if you stuff the cavities of stoned peaches with smashed ammaretti biscuits, bake in a hot oven for 5 mins or so and drizzle with Amaretto liqueur. I like to serve with espresso martini on the side, but that's cos I love it !
