I sometimes ask myself if it is really right to kill animals for food. One might think animals as forms of life like ourselves, should be allowed to live on in accordance with the dictates of nature, to complete their natural cycle of life, and then to die a natural death, but do animals not kill other animals? Most of the animals would not survive without killing and eating the ones at the lower level of the food chain, and the whole ecosystem will collapse. This is therefore quite natural that animals be used for food, it looks and feels cruel but it is all quite natural. This is quite alright for us human beings to use the meat of animals for food.
Now, the question of us human beings being fed to animals, as if to return the favour, to balance the act. The point here is if animals could save themselves from predators they would, just as they always try and never willingly give themselves up to the hunter. We human being can do that quite effectively, as first of all we will never willingly allow ourselves to become meat, Then we are successful in surviving against any attempts on our life by animals, because we are intelligent, intelligence that is based upon self-awareness.
The point you have raised here none of the animals could ever raise. They simply do not have the mind to mind. They do not have what it takes for instance to ask a question like the one you have asked here, and that is conscious awareness of a being's own existence. On the hand, we do need to save animals from the monstrosity of our hunger and greed. We need to maintain the natural balance for our own good and arrange for sustainable sources of food. This I believe is the best we can do, as this is what we should do.
