Let us set aside the educational requirements and focus on some of the skills and traits
Social: has to genuinely like people
has to be able to get along with people of different ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, etc.
has to have a lot of patience
has to have empathy and understanding without being judgmental (this does not refer to evaluation of exams, assignments)
has to have the ability to entertain new ideas and approaches both in the presentation of material and curriculum. This also includes student's bringing different solutions to the problem (this is more applicable in math and science)
Has to respect the students and their life experiences which they bring to the classroom. The same applies to the parents.
has to treat all students fairly and justly.
Managerial: the teacher has to be organised otherwise the classroom will be in chaos
the teacher needs to keep accurate records on things such as attendance, lateness, test results, etc.
the teacher needs to know the aims, objectives, purposes of each lesson because if the teacher doesn't then how can the students be expected to know
the teacher needs to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with not only the students but their parents as well. Then there the colleagues, school administration, etc.
I am sure that others can add to the above list.
